The Tidy Garden – a Slight Problem.

The Tidy Garden has always been an honest name.

Simple. Clear. No fuss.

Turn up, work hard, leave a garden looking better than when I arrived. Lawns cut, hedges shaped, things brought back under control.

And I genuinely enjoy that work.

But if I’m honest, The Tidy Garden has always carried a slightly low-brow feel.

That was partly intentional. Friendly. Approachable.

Still… it’s also a bit of a shame.

Because keeping gardens tidy isn’t really the whole story.

Seeing the whole garden

When I step into a garden, I’m rarely just thinking about the hedge that needs cutting.

I’m looking at the whole space.

Where the sun falls.
Where a seating area might work better.
Where a border could soften the edge of a lawn.

Good garden design changes how a space feels. Thoughtful planting design brings it to life. Well-planned borders and flower beds turn an ordinary garden into somewhere people actually want to spend time.

That’s the bit that increasingly interests me.

Gardens that feel good

Gardens aren’t just decoration.

They’re places to slow down. A patch of green that gives your head a bit of breathing room.

More people are starting to recognise the value of green spaces for mental health, and rightly so.

A well-designed garden does more than look good.

It changes how you feel when you’re in it.

Something a little more… special

So recently a thought has been growing.

Perhaps The Tidy Garden continues doing what it does best.

But alongside it… something else begins.

A slightly more VIP approach to gardens. Not just maintenance, but shaping outdoor spaces properly. Design, planting, atmosphere. The whole picture.

It won’t be for everyone.

But for those who want something a bit more considered…

Something quietly special…

There may soon be another option.

A Room in which to bloom, roots n all.

The idea is still taking shape.

But the direction feels clear.

Not just tidying gardens.

Creating them.

From root to bloom – And if the signs are right, something rather interesting might be on the horizon.
