Pink Jobs, Blue Jobs… and Why Winnersh Gardens Need Both

If you’re looking for a gardener in Winnersh, here’s a truth most people don’t say out loud:

Good gardens aren’t about doing everything.
They’re about doing the right things well.

I’m Paul from The Tidy Garden. I’ve worked in Winnersh handling garden maintenance. I take care of pruning, planting, and the practical jobs that keep gardens enjoyable rather than hard work.

I like Structure. Tidiness. Gardens that function properly.
But I also enjoy planting and shaping a space so it feels right.

Then there’s Claire from Plantittude.

Claire is a highly skilled gardener too. Brilliant with planting design, border planning, and knowing what will work where. She also isn’t afraid of the tougher jobs when a garden needs reworking. Pink jobs. Blue jobs. She does both – just like me.

Whilst we joke (if we can these days!) that gardening has pink jobs and blue jobs, because men and women often bring slightly different instincts to the same work.

Not better or worse. Just different.

Sometimes I’m happily doing the pink jobs.
Sometimes Claire’s rolling her sleeves up for the blue ones.

That overlap is exactly why we work well together.

We’ve crossed paths in Winnersh gardens for years and realised we shared the same values: practical gardening, thoughtful planting, and no nonsense.

So now we work together. A proper partnership.

Claire puts it simply:

“When planting and maintenance work together, gardens just feel better.”

And from me:

“This collaboration gives Winnersh gardens the best of both worlds.”

There is more coming soon. Something MUCH bigger, built around local gardens and local people, we both think you’ll love our next news installment!

But for now, it’s enough to say that The Tidy Garden is working in partnership with Plantittude in Winnersh.

Pink jobs. Blue jobs. Done properly – more often together🌱

Regards Paul (and Claire from Plantittude…..)
